Art therapy for military wounded
It is an opportunity to express emotions that are difficult to put into words. Through art, the military finds a way to regain a sense of control over the events they have experienced.
Creative
Art therapy creates a space for expressing emotions through creativity – drawing, modeling or working with sand. This allows you to release what is difficult to express in words and begin the healing process.
Healing
The process of creativity helps the military to process trauma, find inner balance and feel like creators, not just victims of circumstances. Emotional recovery goes hand in hand with physical recovery.
With support
Classes are led by experienced art therapists who support participants throughout the process. The group format creates a sense of community and mutual support, which is especially important in overcoming isolation and inner pain.
Art therapy for war wounded: the importance of healing the soul
Military personnel who are wounded and hospitalized face not only physical pain, but also deep psychological trauma. Loss of health, experienced fear and feelings of helplessness leave their mark on the psyche. At this time, art therapy becomes not just a leisure activity, but an important tool for healing.
Through creativity, the military can express what is difficult to put into words. This process helps to reduce inner tension, find a way to work through difficult emotions, and feel in control of their own lives. Art therapy allows military members to take their mind off of their pain and focus on creating something new and positive.
Creativity is a tool for working with pain, fear, and trauma
Hello,
my name is Olga Gerasimenko, I am a clinical psychologist and art therapist. I run my own therapeutic practice, and also work as a volunteer for the NGO “War Psychotrauma Institute”, with war wounded, in a medical facility.
In hospital wards there is often silence, so art therapy becomes a special bridge that unites. We paint, work with clay and kinetic sand, and try other creative methods. The military find support in each other, sharing their works and emotions.
The most striking artworks of the military are published on this page and in the Telegram channel “Psychotrauma of War”.
